Artspace

Artspace

Come and make a mess at our space! Creative arts classes for children and young people.

Artspace is a creative arts studio for children and young people aged 3-18 years. Studio offerings include fun, inspiring classes during school term and special interest workshops during school holidays.

Classes are taught by our artists in residence and special guest artists. All Artspace artists are practising (in other words they’ve been to Uni and are exhibiting their work) and are inspired by the Reggio approach. If you don’t have time to Google that one, in a nutshell, Reggio inspired teaching views children not as empty vessels that need to be filled with facts, but rather as competent and capable individuals – able to develop their own ideas and expressive styles. It’s all about learning and discovering through the process of creating.

Alongside the mainstream visual arts strand, Artspace also runs specialist streams in Cartooning, Film making (6 weeks-starts May 15), Fine arts drawing and HSC Mentoring. There is also an evening adult’s class (6 weeks-starts May 14)

The Artspace Philosophy

Brave and curious

We believe that through the visual arts, children become braver and more investigative in their approach and focus while their interpretative skills are developed. The visual arts can boost self confidence and esteem and teach ’cause and effect’ and a clearer view as to the way the things around us connect.
